Members of the Navy Region Northwest Fire & Emergency Services from Naval Air Station Whidbey Island participate in a simulated car fire as part of Exercise Solid Curtain/Citadel Shield 2012 in Oak Harbor, Wash. Solid Curtain/Citadel Shield 2012 is an annual exercise designed to enhance the training and readiness of Navy security forces to respond to threats to installations and units.

Members of the fleet survey team perform a break away while conducting formation exercises and coxswain training. The formation is made up of five hydrographic survey vessels and four expeditionary survey vessels. Both types of vessels are equipped with various sonar and global position systems to conduct hydrographic surveys. The hydrographic survey vessels perform safety of navigation surveys in order to create and update nautical charts.

Seabees assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 74 and their families participate in an early morning physical training (PT) session onboard Naval Construction Battalion Center, Gulfport, Miss Dec. 21. The battalion conducts PT on a regular basis and wanted an opportunity to share with their families what they do as well as promote physical fitness.
